Today’s Teaching
Proverbs 3:5-6 · KJV
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Trust is not the absence of thinking — it is refusing to make your own understanding the final word.
Context
Proverbs 1–9 is written as a father's instruction to his son, urging him to choose wisdom. Chapter 3 links wisdom with wholehearted trust in the LORD rather than self-reliance.
Teaching
"All thine heart" leaves no compartment reserved for self-rule. To acknowledge God "in all thy ways" means bringing Him into ordinary decisions, not only crises. The promise is not that every path will be easy, but that God will make it straight — guiding the one who leans on Him.
Reflect
- Where am I leaning most on my own understanding right now?
- What decision this week can I deliberately bring to God first?
Prayer
Lord, I confess how quickly I trust my own reasoning. Today I lean on You. Direct my steps, and give me peace when I cannot see the whole road. Amen.
